The CFA Institute 2023 Society Leadership Conference was an incredibly insightful event hosted in Seattle back in September. President Jared Luegers and Vice President Roger Lee attended and gained valuable insights directly from Institute Leadership. They engaged in discussions with the Research and Policy leadership regarding ESG and how CFA Indy has seamlessly integrated this topic into our programming, including events like our social impact investing event. They also highlighted the effectiveness of Hoosier Hub in expanding our society’s reach to all local investors.  One of the most significant takeaways from the conference was the realization that we are not alone in our challenges. Many societies are grappling with engagement issues post-Covid and navigating uncertain funding environments, along with some philosophical differences regarding initiatives advocated by the global institute leadership.

CFA Society Indianapolis was spotlighted globally and took center stage in two major discussions. Jared and the President of CFA Los Angeles were chosen to speak in a session on revenue diversification, emphasizing the value we offer to sponsors. Roger participated in a discussion alongside the head of CFA Mexico and the VP of CFA Colorado on how to address Gen-Z investors. The conference also featured numerous engaging breakout sessions, including an in-depth exploration of Intellectual Property Law, specifically focusing on trademarks and the use of the CFA designation with CFA Institute’s General Counsel. Attendees learned about the evolution of engagement initiatives within the CFA Institute’s University Affiliate Programs and their efforts to enhance the Candidate Experience (message us for the presentation materials).
