I was born and raised in Jasper, Indiana, a German Catholic town of 13,000 located in southern Indiana. As Drake would say…. “hardly home but always reppin ” that’s my motto for my hometown. I am proud and thankful to have grown up in the community that I did. There is something about the values you learn growing up in a small town Midwestern town. Hard working, down to Earth people who may enjoy their beer just a little bit too much….. But hey that’s a German Catholic for you and I am proud to be one.
I knew from an early age I wanted to go to Indiana University. Early on, it was because IU Basketball and Bob Knight. 90’s IUBB… can you blame me?? But as I approached my teenage years, I knew my decision was solidified after learning about how top notch Indiana’s business school was. I knew I wanted to be involved in the business world and ultimately become an entrepreneur one day. Mark Cuban became my childhood role model around that time. I ultimately attended Indiana University and graduated from the Kelley School of Business in 2014 with degrees in Finance and Economic Consulting.
Around that same time, I started studying for my CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst ) charter as I knew I wanted my early career to be focused around investing and learning about what types of businesses make great investments. The sacrificed time outside my senior year classes and my early career day job was totally worth it and has allowed me to get to where I am in my career today. Frankly, I don’t think I would have landed the job I did straight out of school without me showing how determined I was to break into the industry.
For most of my career so far, my professional experience has primarily surrounded public equity analysis and portfolio management. As I mentioned previously, I was lucky enough to land a buy-side analyst role with Old National straight out of school… and in Indianapolis, a feat that was much harder than I had originally imagined. Growing up, I always wanted to live in Indianapolis because I viewed that a big city relative to where I was from. I don’t regret anything along my journey so far as I have been able to due some great things here in Indy but I do sometimes ponder living out in NYC with the hustle and bustle energy pulsing through its streets. Its a place that blends well with my personality and I always enjoy visiting the city.
After spending my first 6 years focused around public equities, I recently made the switch towards the private equity side of the investment world. I now work for a family office that has a heavy focus on private equity operations. My boss is the co-founder of Postlane Partners and I serve as his Chief Of Staff and CFO for his family office he recently launched to start managing his holistic wealth inside and outside of the PE firm.
